UCO’S 40TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL MOVES TO DOWNTOWN EDMOND NOV. 12

Cultures from around the globe will come together to celebrate the Edmond International Festival with the University of Central Oklahoma from 3-7 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Edmond Festival Market Place, 30 W. First St. in Edmond.

Previously known as the UCO International Festival, the event is in its 40th year and now includes the city of Edmond, Oklahoma Christian University (OC) and the World Affairs Council of Edmond as partners.

“UCO’s International Festival drew more than 2,000 attendees in 2014 and we’re excited to see it grow even larger as we join with OC, the city and the World Affairs Council of Edmond for the festival’s 40th anniversary. These partnerships have allowed us to move the festival into downtown Edmond and give the event even greater prominence as the Edmond International Festival,” said Jared Scism, international activities specialist in Central’s Office of Global Affairs.

International students from Central and OC will showcase countries, regions and continents including Africa, the Caribbean, Central and South America, China, Europe, India, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and Vietnam.

"This festival allows students and members of the Edmond and Oklahoma City communities to experience global cultures through amazing food, traditional performances and information booths organized by our various international student organizations,” Scism added.

The festival is free for UCO and OC students with a valid student ID. Admission is free for all others, but members of the community who plan to eat at the festival must pay $5 for a food ticket. For more information, contact Scism at 405-974-2131 or jscism@uco.edu.
