UCO DESIGN STUDENTS EXHIBIT WORK THAT SWEPT OKC ADDY AWARDS
The University of Central Oklahoma Department of Design will showcase award-winning designs from the 2017 Oklahoma City ADDY Awards at an exhibit opening March 8, with a reception from 4-5 p.m. at the Melton Gallery, located in the Art and Design building on Central’s campus. The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibit will continue through April 14.
Central’s design department had 113 students and 12 professionals win ADDY awards. Of those 113 student awards, 25 were gold, 34 silver, 50 bronze and all four of the special judge citations. Of the 12 professional awards, seven were gold, four silver and one bronze.
“The outstanding performance of UCO Design students at the ADDY Awards is a direct result of our student’s tenacity and dedication to excellence,” said Amy Johnson, M.F.A., chair of the UCO Department of Design.
“It also speaks to the quality of our design faculty and their dedication to help students learn.”
The ADDY Awards are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting more than 50,000 entries every year in local competitions throughout the nation. This year the ADDYs attracted more than 1,000 entries from Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Wichita Falls.
“It’s one thing to know you are doing good work by earning good grades and arriving at the top of the class; it’s quite another to know that your work excels at a regional, national and international level!” Johnson said.
“Imagine the confidence boost that comes from this kind of success.”
