UCO EXCEEDS FUNDRAISING GOAL WITH MONTH-LONG #SAVEOLDNORTH CAMPAIGN

The University of Central Oklahoma Development Office wrapped its #SaveOldNorth campaign in May with $56,301 raised for the renovation of the university’s iconic building, Old North.

Utilizing multiple social media platforms and other methods of crowdsourcing, the university surpassed the original 30-day goal of $18,900 in honor of the university’s founding in 1890 in just 12 days.

“We are overwhelmed with the outpouring of support from our alumni and friends,” said Anne Holzberlein, vice president for Development at UCO.

“We started this journey to raise awareness for the Old North fundraising project and received so much more. The stories, the passion, all of it helped put some fire back in this campaign and let us know Old North still has an important place in our future.”

Due to structural complications that multiplied over time, Old North closed in 2000 resulting in the loss of several classrooms and the relocation of nearly 40 faculty and staff offices.

The #SaveOldNorth project is part of the university’s $40 million Always Central campaign. With just over $38 million raised, $3.5 million is still needed to finish the interior renovation of the building.
