MEDIA ADVISORY: 2014 UCO ENDEAVOR GAMES SHOWCASES ATHLETES WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES
WHEN: June 5-8
WHERE: University of Central Oklahoma Wellness Center, Edmond Mitch Park YMCA, Devon Boathouse on the Oklahoma River and POPS restaurant, located east of Edmond.
WHAT: The 2014 UCO Endeavor Games will celebrate 15 years of inspiring competition for athletes with physical disabilities this weekend. The nation’s largest multi-sport, multi-disability event will welcome more than 400 athletes from nearly 40 states and several countries.
The event will start with the dedication of the Olympic/Paralympic Strength statue, located outside the UCO Wellness Center, at noon Thursday.
The kickoff celebration will take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Edmond Mitch Park YMCA. The return of the popular swimming event will follow that evening.
This year’s games offer 11 sports – archery (indoor/outdoor), cycling, paracanoe, paratriathlon, powerlifting, sitting volleyball, shooting, swimming, table tennis, track and field and wheelchair basketball.
