UCO PROFESSOR OF MUSIC INVITED TO PRESENT AT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN CHINA
University of Central Oklahoma professor of music Brian Lamb, D.M.A., recently presented at the “Forum on Teacher Education Reform and Basic Education Development,” an international conference held at South China Normal University in Guangzhou, China.
Lamb was invited to present on UCO’s commitment to transformative learning and the UCO School of Music’s new education curriculum: learning outcome based teacher preparation model.
UCO was one of two U.S. institutions invited to this conference. Other university representatives came from Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, China, Japan and Ireland.
UCO College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) Dean James Machell, Ph.D., recommended Lamb to present at the conference. The CEPS works in collaboration with the School of Music to better facilitate a degree in music education.
“Dr. Lamb’s experiences in China will result in even richer transformative learning experiences for our students,” said Machell.
“We are grateful for his ambassadorship at the South China Normal School.”
While in Guangzho, Lamb also presented a workshop to wind orchestra students at Xinghai Conservatory, a partner institution of the UCO School of Music.
“I feel so honored to have represented UCO at the conference and I’m very proud of the way we handle our teacher preparation in the School of Music,” said Lamb.
