UCO-Based US Women's Sitting Volleyball Team Loses Two Matches on First Day at Moscow Cup Tournament

UCO-BASED US WOMEN’S SITTING VOLLEYBALL TEAM LOSES TWO MATCHES ON FIRST DAY AT MOSCOW CUP TOURNAMENT
The University of Central Oklahoma-based U.S. Women’s Sitting Volleyball team lost two matches played back-to-back on the first day of the Moscow Cup tournament on Aug. 16.
Russia beat USA 23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 15-6 and China beat USA 25-20, 25-19, 28-30, 25-17.
Top U.S. scorer in both matches was Heather Erickson (Fayetteville, N.C./Edmond, Okla.) with 23 and 20 points respectively. USA will play Finland Saturday morning for their last match of pool play.
Central became an official U.S. Olympic Training Site in July 2009, and has been an official U.S. Paralympic Training Site since 2005. At Central, athletes can train for Olympic volleyball and any Paralympic sport. Currently, Central hosts 16 resident athletes in the sports of sitting volleyball, archery, taekwondo and track and field.
