UCO ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR OUTSTANDING ALUMNI AND FAMILY OF THE YEAR

The University of Central Oklahoma’s Alumni Relations office is seeking nominations for outstanding Central alumni for both the 2013 Distinguished Alumni Awards and the 2013 Family of the Year award.

The Distinguished Alumni Awards, formerly known as the Distinguished Former Student awards, honor UCO graduates and former students who have distinguished themselves as leaders and innovators in their careers and community in one of three categories: professional, community service and university service.

Criteria for the professional field include the nominee’s impact on achievements in their profession, recognition within their field, length of service, degrees earned, and completed publications or research.

Community service nominees are evaluated on voluntary leadership, dedication and contribution of time, effort and enthusiasm to improve quality of lives and personal commitment demonstrated above desire for personal gain.

The university service award is based on the nominee’s devotion and loyalty to the university through volunteerism, participation in campus activities, financial support, and on their continued promotion of UCO, its students and the UCO Alumni Association.

Also sponsored by the UCO Alumni Association, the Family of the Year award is given annually to a family who has a long line of members who have attended and/or graduated from UCO and continue to stay involved with the university.

The deadline for nominations is May 31.

Recipients will be formally honored during Homecoming at the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards Luncheon on Friday, Nov. 1.

The UCO Alumni Association promotes the general welfare of Central through its members while strengthening the relationship and communication among graduates, current students, faculty and staff, and friends of the university.

For more information, or to obtain nomination forms, contact the UCO Office of Alumni Relations at (405) 974-2421 or visit www.uco.edu/alumni.
