UCO CELEBRATES CULTURE AS STUDENTS COMPETE FOR ‘MISS HISPANIC 2013’ CROWN
University of Central Oklahoma students will compete for the Miss Hispanic UCO 2013 title during the university’s annual scholarship pageant at 7 p.m. April 20 in Central’s Constitution Hall, located at the Nigh University Center.
“The Miss Hispanic UCO scholarship pageant is important to the Central community because it brings together young women to showcase the beauty of the Hispanic culture. The pageant gives the ladies a place to form friendships and memories that will forever be a part of their college experience,” said Luciana Perez, Miss Hispanic UCO pageant director and Miss Hispanic UCO 2009.
Sponsored by the Hispanic American Student Association and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), the pageant will award a $1,600 scholarship to the winner, $800 to the first runner-up and $500 to the second runner-up.
Contestants will also vie for the Erika Balderas Talent Award, the Fabiola Hernandez Photogenic Award, the Adelita Dixon People’s Choice Award and the Abby Balderas Future Business Woman Award.
Admission to the pageant is free for anyone with a UCO ID. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 for the public.

Freshman, business administration
Sophomore, public relations
Adriana Ruiz Crowl
Freshman, biomedical engineer
Junior, elementary education
Sophomore, English education
Freshman, criminal justice
Sophomore, child development
Freshman, international business
Freshman, molecular biology and forensic science
