UCO STUDENT APPOINTED TO REGIONAL COMMITTEE FOR THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR CAMPUS ACTIVITIES
The National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) recently appointed Amanda Davis, junior at the University of Central Oklahoma, as the foundation fundraising coordinator for the 2013 regional conference in Tulsa, Okla.
“Having a student on the NACA regional conference planning committee gives UCO a chance to showcase some of the amazing leaders we are helping to develop here at Central,” said Courtney James, assistant director of Campus Activities.
“It also gives Central the opportunity to improve our events and programs in Campus Activities as Amanda will be networking with students and professionals throughout the region and bringing new and innovative ideas to our campus.”
As the foundations fundraiser chair, Davis will be planning and implementing contests, silent auction, and other events to raise money for the foundation. While she will be working all year round the core of her responsibilities won’t be until the NACA regional conference in October.
“I hope having this position will help me to get a more broad understanding of how events work and ideas to bring bigger and better events to UCO,” said Davis
She applied for this position after attending the NACA regional conference in Arlington, Texas this past fall.
Davis is one of three undergraduate students from the region that was offered a position on the leadership team.
“When I attended the NACA regional conference saw that, although a lot of money was being raised for the NACA foundation, there were ways we could better the process.”
“This association helps so many colleges better their programming and I consider it an honor to be chosen to raise money for more colleges and students to attend the conference and take advantage of what NACA has to offer.”
