UCO CHALLENGES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO FLEX CREATIVE MUSCLES AT DESIGN OLYMPICS
The University of Central Oklahoma Department of Design will host its first-ever Design Olympics, a daylong series of design events and competitions, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., March 29 at the UCO Campus. The event is open to high school students and others who are interested in pursuing careers in graphic or interior design.
Risk-takers, problem-solvers, puzzle-lovers and innovators are invited to flex their creative muscles through problem-solving tasks, drawing and doodling, and other activities that could win them a variety of prizes, including tuition waivers and scholarships for Central design classes.
“This event is 100 percent fun, enabling participants to interact with professional and student designers, compete with peers in design skill-based events and experience what design school feels like,” said Rukmini Ravikumar, M.F.A., chair of the design department.
Registration for the Design Olympics is $5. The cost includes materials used during the day and lunch. Participants must register by March 22.
There is also an optional tour of the campus that starts at 2 p.m. following the day’s activities.
