UCO-BASED OKLAHOMA A+ SCHOOLS TO HOST STATEWIDE CREATIVE WRITING CONFERENCES IN OKLAHOMA CITY, TULSA
University of Central Oklahoma-based Oklahoma A+ Schools (OKA+) will host “Make Way for Writing: An Arts Integration Workshop for Educators,” a statewide seminar that will offer prekindergarten-12 grade teachers experiences in creative writing activities.
Educators can participate in the workshop either in Tulsa or Oklahoma City. Both workshops will start at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m. The Tulsa workshop will be held Feb. 16 at the Philbrook Museum of Art, and the Oklahoma City workshop will take place Feb. 23 at the Northwest Branch of the Metropolitan Library.
During the sessions, participants will learn creative and sustainable writing strategies that address all curricular areas, explore deliberate arts integration, and make direct connections to the common core state standards.
Registration costs $30 for non-network members and is free for OKA+ network members, OKA+ Fellows, and Central students, faculty and staff. Registration includes three hours of professional development, workshop materials and door prizes.
Space is limited and is offered on a first come, first served basis.
OKA+ is a statewide network of schools that advances a quality, whole school experience to nurture creativity in every learner, and provides the state’s only research-based school reform model with creativity in its mission.
