UCO SCHOOL OF MUSIC PRESENTS EARLY 20th CENTURY-THEMED CONCERT
The University of Central Oklahoma School of Music will present an early 20th century-themed concert featuring Robert Glaubitz, D.M.A., assistant professor of voice, and Sallie Pollack, D.M.A., piano instructor, at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 5 at the UCO Jazz Lab, 100 E. Fifth Street in Edmond.
The performance is a part of the School of Music’s Faculty Artist Concert Series, a yearlong performance series featuring the talents of Central music faculty members. All performances take place on Tuesday nights at 7:30 p.m. at the UCO Jazz Lab.
Glaubitz is an award-winning baritone, who has appeared in leading roles in a variety of musicals and operas including “Die Fledermaus” and “The Music Man.” He is also a member of the “Conundrum Duo” with guitarist Carey Harwood, which performs a diverse selection of classical music for voice and instruments including guitar, lute, mandolin, and banjo.
Pollack has toured extensively throughout the southwest United States, both as a piano soloist and collaborator. Her many awards and competitions include finalist in the Concours International Bach Competition in Brussels, and winner in the Van Cliburn Piano Institute Concerto Competition.
The concert program will consist of compositions by composers Francis Poulenec, Gustav Mahler, Roger Quilter and Vittorio Giannini.
“This is my favorite era of music and the type of concert I have always wanted to perform,” said Glaubitz.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling the UCO School of Music at 405-974-5004. Admission is free for Central students, faculty and staff with a Central I.D. Half of the proceeds will go toward Central Music Scholarships, and the rest will support the school.
