UCO’S COURTNEY JAMES RECONIZED AS THE CENTRAL REGION OUTSTANDING NEW PROFESSIONAL
The National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) recently recognized Courtney James, assistant director of Campus Activities at the University of Central Oklahoma, as the Central Region Outstanding New Professional.
The award is given each year to a professional employed in a full-time campus activities profession for less than five years at a NACA member school and who has made significant contributions to their campus, to NACA regional or national activities, the profession and their community.
“Working at a university, I fully believe that we are in the business of changing lives. Each and every day, our students come to us with an idea or a dream and we have the privilege to help them bring those to fruition. My favorite part of my job has to be having the opportunity to do this,” said James.
“Through the programs offered at Central and the conversations that we have with students, we challenge them to be the best versions of themselves and through this journey, we get to see them grow and develop in ways they never thought possible.”
James joined the Central staff in 2010 and oversees several campus groups including the Student Programming Board, Homecoming Activities Board, WinterGlow and Big Pink Volleyball. James works closely with students and teaches them how to work with guest performers and other students to create successful programs.
“Courtney truly cares about Central. She wants everyone to have a great experience at a Campus Activities event, no matter if they are volunteering to pick up trash, or if they are speaking on stage. The NACA award is much deserved recognition of what we see in Courtney each day,” added Kay Robinson, director of Campus Activities and James’s supervisor.
